Daily I am further convinced about the many tentacles of social media addiction. Obsessive selfie perfection leads to ‘Snapchat dysmorphia. Teens spending 40+ minutes editing a selfie to a desired look.
Plastic surgeons getting requests to alter faces to resemble these edited photos? I can’t remember a time in history where the lines between fantasy and reality have been so blurred. I know that wanting to look like a supermodel is nothing new but when did we give up on the developmental struggle for self-awareness and acceptance? The struggle is as real as it’s ever been but now this generation is stuck in “the Matrix.” Unable to stop updating their selfies to grow up.
